Larkana police busts gambling racket

A type of gambling called Parchi Jua has been taking Larkana city in its clutches for the last two years and has ruined a sizeable number of lower and middle-class people who want to become millionaires through a shortcut.

In this regard, on the clear directions of SSP Umar Tufail, Larkana police is currently engaged in action against social evils to wipe them out from society; and working on a tip-off, SHO Darri police station along with heavy police contingent under the command of ASP City, raided at midnight the illegal business of Akra Parchi dealers who were patronising dens in suburb of the city, rounding up kingpin of gambling den namely Motto Abro, a self-proclaimed spiritual pundit and fortunate teller who is also making the most of the situation which causes people lose millions of rupees every fortnight.

All the gamblers in the dens were trapped inside when the police had shut all the doors. Apart from Motto Abro, four other notorious gamblers were also nabbed whose names have not been disclosed, but police found them involved in betting playing cards, Aakra Parchi, and Casino, were also nabbed. However, the bet money, two TT Pistols, two bottles of wine, gambling table, tokens, playing cards, cash of Rs 15,000 and other material used during gambling have been confiscated which was recovered from their possession. Police have registered a case at PS Darri against 15 gamblers for their alleged involvement in gambling under the relevant ordinance and started further investigations from arrested accused.
