Punjab Provincial Census Commissioner Arif Anwar Baloch said Thursday the first phase of national housing and population census is being continued successfully across the country, including 16 districts of Punjab.
Talking to the news agency, he said that during the first phase, census process would be completed in 63 districts of the country, including 16 in Punjab, eight in Sindh, 13 in KP and Orakzai Agency of FATA, 15 districts in Balochistan, and five each in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan.

To a question, Arif said that census in AJK would be started from April 29, adding that a total of 2,800 mobile staff members would be deputed for holding the scheduled census.
The staff members in AJK have already been provided with five-day training, conducted by the master trainers in January, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the districts of Punjab in which census has been started in the first phase include Jhang, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffar Garh, Lahore, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sialkot, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Pakpattan, and Attock.
