LONDON: Pakistan and Afghanistan are all set to hold top-level dialogue in London in order to address the tension that has arisen between both countries.

The negotiations will be hosted by the British government today in London in which higher officials from both countries will participate.

Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will represent Pakistan and Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani on National Security Mohammad Hanif Atmar will represent Afghanistan.

Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal and British National Security Advisor Sir Mark Lyall Grant will also attend the high-level talks.

According to Afghan officials, both countries will negotiate to abate the increasing tension between each other and to eradicate terrorism. Furthermore, the matter of closure of border will also be discussed.

The meeting will be the highest level face-to-face discussion between representatives of the neighbouring states after Islamabad closed down border crossings with Afghanistan and shelled alleged terrorist sanctuaries on the Afghan side along the border, last month.
