ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is planning to declare the strategic Gilgit-Baltistan region as the fifth province, a move that may raise concerns in India as it borders the disputed Kashmir area.
Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada told local media that a committee headed by Advisor of Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had proposed giving the status of a province to Gilgit-Baltistan.
“The committee recommended that Gilgit-Baltistan should be made a province of Pakistan,” Pirzada said on Wednesday.
He also said that a constitutional amendment would be made to change the status of the region, through which the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC) passes.
Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh are four provinces of Pakistan.
The move may raise concerns in India as the disputed region borders Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK).
Pakistan is a thief and its friend China is a dacoit.

GB is part of the Kashmir dispute. We need to declare ALL of GB and AK as provinces, including IOK. Once we have made ALL disputed territories as provinces we will have a stronger claim with UN and China. This is indisputable, irrevocable, and final.
More coverage on the issue in Indian media than Pakistan. Gives an idea of how much Pakistani media is concerned about the region.
No dear. we pakistani love this region and its people more than our lives. and concerned about it more than anything else.
Government has been controlling the Azad Kashmir and GB region since 1950’s,that behavior has demotivated the inhabitants and has been cause of anger and disappointment.Giving GB the status of Province will weaken the case of J&K internationally.Being Muslim we must help them establish the region but not to control it.
No basic infra since 50 years
Now china pushing politicians to amend law just to make its way easy and fill pockets of politicians
Whatever matter may be but unnecessary dispute with india just for far and selfish china is disaster
