BIEK announces supplementary results

KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Tuesday announced results for the supplementary examinations of Science General and Science Pre-Engineering and Science Pre-Medical (Private and Regular) groups.

The exams were held from November 23 till December 12, 2016, while practical examinations continued up to January 14, 2016.

As per gazette, of 997 candidates registered 965 students appeared in the General Group supply exams. As many as, 316 candidates were declared passed whereas overall pass percentage was 32.75 percent. Total 585 male students were registered, 568 appeared of which 208 students managed to pass their supply exams. The pass percentage was 36.62 percent.

The gazette further stated, 412 female candidates were registered of which 397 students appeared and 108 candidates were declared pass. The pass percentage was 27.20 percent.

No candidate can get an A-I or A grade; however, seven candidates got B grade, 128 C grade, 172 got D grade and nine of them got E grade.

In Pre-Engineering Group, overall 10,959 candidates were registered and 10,563 students appeared of which 3793 candidates managed to clear their supply exams. The overall pass percentage was 35.91 percent.

Of 8,486 male students registered, 8, 160 appeared and 3, 185 students were declared passed. The pass percentage was 39. 03 per cent. No one can get an A-I grade, but 11 got A grade, 53 got B grade, 731 got C grade, 2121 got D grade and 267 got E grade.

Meanwhile, 2,473 female students were registered and 2, 403 candidates appeared of which 608 students were declared passed. The pass percentage was 25.30 percent and no female candidate received an A-1 grade. One female candidate got an A grade, 24 got B grade, 277 got C grade, 298 got D grade and eight got E grade.

In Pre-Medical Group, overall 6,473 candidates registered of which 6232 students appeared and 1,641 candidates managed to clear the exams. The overall pass percentage was 26.33 percent.

According to the gazette, 1,564 male students were registered, 1,492 candidates appeared of which only 496 students were declared passed. The pass percentage was 33.24 percent.

Whereas 4,909 female candidates were registered, 4,740 students appeared and 1,145 candidates declared passed. The pass percentage was 24.16 percent.

Earlier, the Sindh government has removed BIE Karachi Controller of Examination Muhammad Imran Khan Chishti without any reason and appointed Muhammad Jafar as an acting controller of examination. Muhammad Jafar earlier refused to announce the supplementary results and adopted a view that he was not involved in a result-making process and he would not sign and announce the result.

However, on Tuesday, the board announced the supplementary results without any formal announcement.
