KARACHI: Work is being carried out under comprehensive planning to save citizens from the harmful effects of a heat wave.

This was stated by Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan while chairing a meeting on Monday.

He informed that the Urban Unit and the Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Pakistan in collaboration with the Karachi Administration is devising `Heat Stroke Management Plan’.

The commissioner hoped that an implementation of such a plan would help save the Karachiites from the harmful effects of a heat wave.

In June 2015, the heat wave had killed more than 1,000 people in the metropolis.

Ejaz asked the administration and the concerned organisations to provide guidance towards the preparation of the heat stroke management plan and directed them to ensure that such a plan is ready before the advent of the hot weather.

Meanwhile, in collaboration with the Commissioner Office, a consultative workshop was also conducted in a local hotel.

It was informed on the occasion, that in collaboration with various organisations statistics were collected and a comprehensive study was being carried out in this regard.
