PPP felicitates Hindu community on Holi

KARACHI: The Hindu community in Sindh and across the country is celebrating the festival of Holi on Sunday.

Pakistan People’s Party co-chairmen Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have felicitated Hindu community on the occasion.

In his message, Zardari said the festival of Holi symbolises the triumph of good over evil and of light over darkness.

“May the celebrations today also usher in peace, prosperity and joy not only in the lives of Hindus but in the lives of all people,” he said.

He said the underlying message of this symbolism is that instead of cursing the darkness we should light a candle, and instead of perpetuating hatred we should plant the seeds of love.

The former president took this opportunity to assure the Hindu community and all minorities that the PPP stands by them in their struggle against religious apartheid.

He expressed confidence that the Hindu and other minorities will continue their valuable contributions for the prosperity of Pakistan and promote inter-faith harmony.

In a separate felicitation message on the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto said that he had visited Umerkot to celebrate Holi last year.

However, he could not attend Holi festivities personally this year due to the pressing engagements for the party reorganisation process in Lahore.

Bilawal said that their party is the torch-bearer of the mission carried out by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali for an egalitarian society with diverse people living coherently and peacefully.

He urged for special prayers on the occasion for peace, progress and prosperity in the country.
