Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF)’s Board of Governors had increased its financial aid scheme from Rs 250,000 to Rs 400,000 per family of deceased overseas Pakistanis and Rs 300,000 for disabled persons.
An official source said, “This scheme will help the bereaved families to overcome their initial financial issues soon after the demise or disability of their earning members”, he added.
He said the OPF had introduced financial aid scheme in 1980-81 to provide financial assistance to the destitute families of overseas Pakistanis in case of death or disability of overseas Pakistanis. He said that Overseas Pakistanis were playing vital role in strengthening economy of the country and they deserved special attention for resolution of their grievances. To a question he said that OPF had been working for the welfare of expatriate Pakistanis and their dependents in different areas like provision of financial assistance, educational, health and housing facilities.
OPF had established online complaint management system for early resolution of grievances of Pakistani expatriates and their dependents. He said upcoming Overseas Pakistanis Convention would be held in December this year in Islamabad. “We will never let them alone in their difficult times”, he said.
OPF has planned to establish Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Council (OPAC) for early addressing the issues of overseas Pakistanis. OPAC will have representation from Gulf region, Europe, United States of America and remaining parts of the globe, he added.
