Digitalisation of police system to help curb crimes

LAHORE: Elected representatives and the general public believe that digitalisation of police system would help curb crimes.

Talking to agencies here on Sunday, members of parliament and people appreciated the government for taking the initiative. Member National Assembly Waheed Aalam Khan said that the system, which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the other day to digitalise the Punjab Police, would bring about a remarkable change in the police stations culture.

He appreciated the positive initiative and said that it would help ensure that citizens feel good while visiting police stations for lodging their complaints.

He said that the Punjab Police Department had already been working on revamping the system and the digitalisation would link all police stations to the central command.

Member Punjab Assembly Rana Abdul Mannan said that under the digital system, information technology experts would be present at the front desk of every police station and crime data would be recorded in the system.

He said that due to this digital system, there would be no chance for criminals to escape the police vigilance.

He said that our law-enforcement agencies have rendered great sacrifices for the protection of the country. He said that the digital system would enhance working capacity of police.

Abbas Zaheer, manager finance at a leading private business group, said that digital system was a need of the hour and it would help modernise the police system. He said that the government deserved appreciation for fulfilling this requirement.
