Increased female voters turnout for registration urged

TANDO ALLAHYAR: Sindh Election Commissioner Tanveer Zaki has directed all the officers concerned to increase the female voter’s registration process, especially in the rural areas so that the maximum voter registration target could be achieved.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of District Voter’s Education Committee here on Saturday.

Hyderabad Election Commissioner Aijaz Ahmed Chohan, Tando Allahyar Election Commissioner Muhammad Sajjad Khattak, Tharparkar Election Commissioner Naveed Aziz, Local Government Department Assistant Director Muhammad Sharif Sanjrani, Election officer Khalid Hussain Rind, representatives of NGO’s and others also attended the meeting.

Tanveer Zaki urged the concerned officers to organise seminars, workshops and other public service programmes to educate the female population regarding the importance of their votes and motivate them to get their CNICs without any delay.

The Sindh election commissioner also directed the district election commissioners to provide him with a complete list of the members of the District Voter’s Education Committee, bearing their designations and cell phone numbers in order to maintain coordination for achieving the desired results.

He directed the officers of the Local Government Department to launch a public awareness campaign so that people could be educated how to get birth as well as death certificates.

Special programmes and speech competitions should be organised in the schools to provide knowledge to the students about the importance of the vote, he added.

He asked the responsible officers to publish advertisements in the newspapers containing public service messages regarding the importance of the vote.

On the occasion, District Election Commissioner Muhammad Sajjad Khattak also briefed the meeting about the working of District Voter’s Education Committee.
