Actress Muznah Ebrahim’s pets latest victims of KMC’s culling drive

The pet dogs of actress Muzna Ebrahim are the latest victims of the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) culling drive against stray dogs.

The actress released an emotional video on Facebook last night, where she described how the KMC has poisoned her dogs, Cinder, Aurora, Dora and Ariel. The last one is still alive, though in critical condition.

 

 

Karachi Municipal Corporation has culled a significant number of stray dogs in Karachi ever since their drive against stray dogs started a few years ago. This campaign was launched after several complaints of dog bites were received by the officials. These animals are generally shot dead or fed poisoned meat.

In 2016, Sindh High Court issued notices to the heads of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Defense Housing Authority and the Clifton Cantonment Board for culling stray dogs in Karachi. The petition filed by Barrister Muhammad Asad Iftikhar, pleaded the court to restrain local authorities from the brutal practice of poisoning stray dogs to death.

Sindh High Court issued notices to the heads of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Defense Housing Authority and the Clifton Cantonment Board for culling stray dogs in Karachi. However, this matter still hasn’t completely been controlled.

According to reports more than 1100 stray dogs have been poisoned as a result of this campaign by the KMC.

Actress Muzna Ebrahim is known for her love of animals and her animals’ rights activism.
