PAKISTAN is facing severe energy crisis since a decade and the present government has tried to address the problem via introducing short and long term energy projects. According to a report, the present government aims to complete 14 energy projects under the CPEC by 2018. For example, government has awarded two contracts for the Dasu hydro-power project worth Rs180 bn to a Chinese firm i.e. China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC). The Chinese firm intends to complete the first phase of the project by 2021 which will generate 2,100 megawatts of energy. Moreover, the project is expected to generate 21bn of energy after its completion of the second phase and it is approximately 7-8bn units greater than the energy produced at Terbela Dam. Thus, it is hoped that the government along with Chinese firm will successfully curb the energy crisis as promised.
