ISLAMABAD: Dr. Farhan Ahmad Nizami, Director Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies called on Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
The special assistant appreciated the work being carried out by the centre for promoting an understanding of the culture and civilization of Islam and addressing the global and national issues facing the Islamic world from an academic perspective.
The special assistant and Dr Nizami exchanged views on possibilities of developing cooperation between the centre and Pakistani institutions for promoting learning and scholarship in the relevant fields.
The SAPM encouraged the centre to benefit from the work of scholars and institutions based in Pakistan and recommended that the OCIS cultivate a dialogue and cooperation with the academic community in Pakistan.
Dr Nizami was also briefed about the government’s policies aimed at enhancing security and welfare of the people and the government’s vision of a peaceful neighbourhood.
Dr Nizami acknowledged the policies of the government for enhancing socio-economic development of the people.
