3-day camp for emerging players underway

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is conducting a 3-day camp for emerging players after short-listing, 39 young players for the camp.

Players began practice on Wednesday and participated in two sessions of cricket under the supervision of Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur who was closely monitoring their their physical fitness, cricketing skills and fielding standards.

Chief selector Inzamam ul Haq and other members of selection committee also came to observe the players’ abilities.

PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan talked to media after making a visit to the camp. He said that although three days were not enough for Mickey Arthur to make any judgement regarding the players, but he will be able to make nuerous deductions regarding the players with the help of chief selector Inzamam ul Haq.

The chairman also said that training camp of national team for West Indies tour will start from next week.

39 cricketers were shortlisted for emerging players’ camp but only 33 players participated in it because Shahzeb Ahmed, Shoaib Maqsood, Farhan Khan, Junaid Ali, Ahmed Jamal and Ibrar Ahmed were busy with domestic tournament.
