T20 team to be announced on March 17

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to announce the Twenty20 squad for West Indies series on March 17, according to details.

It is being said that twenty-five players have been selected by the head selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and head coach Mickey Arthur and the training camp is going to start from March 11. The players will report the team management on March 10.

It has also been informed that Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez will open the innings for Pakistan in Twenty20s in place of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif. Decision about the fate of Mohammad Irfan will be taken after the spot-fixing case is finalised.

The final decision about the inclusion of Shadab Khan will be taken by the Twenty20 captain Sarfraz Ahmed when he joins the camp.

The inclusion of Yasir Shah in Twenty20s and ODIs is in severe doubt after the poor performance in New Zealand and Australia series. We may see Shadab Khan in action in the Test series against West Indies as well if he performs well in Twenty20s and ODIs.

The first of four Twenty20s between Pakistan and West Indies will be played on March 26, and Pakistan team will leave for West Indies on March 20. Three ODIs and three Test matches will be played afterwards.
