LAHORE: The training camp for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of the West Indies will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from March 11.
The 25-member group’s fitness will be monitored by chief selector Inzamamul Haq and coach Mickey Arthur at the training camp before a final team for the Caribbean tour is announced on March 17.
The training camp will also include Kamran Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad, who seem to have mended their broken reputations with impressive showings at the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Meanwhile, Shadab Khan, Hassan Khan, Hussain Talat and some other youngsters who have done well on the domestic circuit as well as the PSL have been asked to report on March 8 for the emerging players’ camp.
Pakistan will play four T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches against the West Indies, with the seven-week tour kicking off in Barbados on March 26.
Earlier in the day, veteran batsman Misbahul Haq was retained as Pakistan’s Test team captain for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.
Speculation regarding Misbah’s future and captaincy had been rife ever since his team was whitewashed 3-0 in the series against Australia earlier this year.
However, the 42-year-old has decided to continue as the team leader for the tour of the Caribbean, with limited-overs skipper Sarfraz Ahmed being his understudy and vice-captain.
