Bollywood’s most prolific film-makers, owner of a respected production house and a dutiful son Karan Johar has another title added to his name now. He is now a father of twins.
The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director has become a father to twins Yash and Roohi via surrogacy, whom he has creatively named after his own parents, reported Yahoo!
Karan broke the big news over Twitter on Saturday, receiving congratulatory messages from the who’s who of Bollywood, including Priyanka Chopra, Siddharth Malhotra, Arjun Rampal, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.
Ironically, the one person who did not react to Karan’s announcement until Sunday night was Karan’s dear friend Shah Rukh Khan. However, before anyone could jump to any conclusions, the actor – who was walking the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra with Shabana Azmi on Sunday, took the opportunity to explain why he hadn’t said anything.
“It’s a very private moment. Please don’t think I am being very cagey because I am not saying but it’s just too private a moment,” Shah Rukh explained. “I have had it myself. So let’s respect that and of course, there is going to be celebration and happiness.” The Raees star was attending the event along with his Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi co-star Anushka Sharma for the Mijwan Welfare Society.
As a close friend and mentor, Shah Rukh naturally wants Karan’s life to be as good as it can be but not at the price of the latter’s privacy. The superstar also expressed his views on women, praising Shabana Azmi for her dedication towards their progress in rural areas.
“I’m honoured to be part of Mijwan Welfare Society, to be part of such noble cause. I believe that our society can’t do without women and as a romantic, I wholeheartedly respect them,” said Shah Rukh. “I’ll say to help these women get the rights that they have been deprived of and such artwork should be allocated to women as they are masters of this kind of work. Also, this is the first time I have ever worn a chicken work kurta so sorry PETA, but I love chicken work and chicken (laughs).”
