The Mirza Group councillors on Sunday vowed to file a petition in the Sindh High court (SHC) against the illegal construction of Alipur regulator in Phuleli canal and its water barriers.

The councillors, including, Shahid Afridi, Ghulam Hussain Soomro, Essa Mallah elected for the Badin Municipal Committee expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the Badin Press Club.

The councillors went on saying that the government was plundering on the irrigation water by constructing the regulator on Phuleli canal.

The Badin Municipal Committee elected representatives also alleged the municipal committee functionaries of corruption and had said that despite a power shift and heavy budgetary allocations, it was due to massive corruption that the city was in a shambles.

The councillors were of the view that the water of Manchhar Lake was poisoned as was proved in the Supreme Court Commission’s report and by supplying this water to the people of Badin, residents were being punished for casting their votes in favour of the Mirza Group.

They said that despite utilising billions of rupees on anti-polio campaigns, many cases have surfaced out in the district reflecting on the ignorance and corruption of the district government.
