Expressing grave concern over ethnic witch-hunt of some communities, especially in Sindh and Punjab provinces, Pasban-e-Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor has asked the rulers to end this ethnic discrimination and treat each Pakistani with equal respect and honour because all Pakistanis are equal.

Talking to different delegations, he said that he fully favours the ongoing operations against law-breakers and terrorists, but hounding Pashtuns in Punjab and other parts of the country on the pretext of these operations is very sad. He said, similarly there are many complaints from Karachi that certain ethnic communities were being criminalised and targeted, which he said, was illegal and unconstitutional.

He reminded that in the recent past the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttaheda Qaumi Movement (MQM) deliberately propagated ethnic divide in Karachi to get sympathy vote at the cost of national unity and solidarity. They blood bathed Karachi with help of their armed militant wings and aman committees. He said the hands of both the PPP and the MQM were stained with the blood of innocent people who were tortured and murdered in the city by their armed wings. He said now the government of Punjab has allegedly started targeting Pashtu speaking communities in lower Punjab and the Sindh government has also started following suit which is highly regrettable. He said this ethnic divide is a poison for Pakistan and it should be opposed and stopped at all costs.

He said now the government of Punjab had allegedly started targeting Pashtu speaking communities in lower Punjab and the Sindh government had also started following suit which was highly regrettable. He said this ethnic divide was a poison for Pakistan and it should be opposed and stopped at all costs.

He said the act of criminalisation of communities is the part of ‘Trumpism’ and by introducing this dangerous trend in Pakistan, our rulers are indirectly harming the solidarity of our country. He said the government should forge unity and solidarity instead of widening ethnic divides, an agenda of the enemies of Pakistan.

He said the poisonous Trumpism was now being rejected even in the USA and our rulers and ill-advised establishment should stop importing this dangerous philosophy to Pakistan.

Altaf Shakoor demanded that this witch-hunt and hounding of certain communities should be immediately stopped. He said action against criminals and law breakers should be taken irrespective of the ethnic profile of the criminals.

He demanded that the Rangers’ role and special powers should be extended to whole Sindh province to end the misconception that certain communities living in Karachi are being deliberately targeted while the criminals living outside the city are being given indirect protection. He said this flawed approach is totally unconstitutional and the lawyers of the Pasban-e-Pakistan are working to challenge it in the courts of law.

He said Pasban e Pakistan announces complete unity and solidarity with all ethnic communities including Pashtu speaking people; they are as much patriotic as other Pakistanis.
