RAWALPINDI: Security forces on Thursday killed one suspected terrorist and arrested 22 others in countrywide raids as part of the ongoing military offensive, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Frontier Corps and intelligence personnel conducted a joint search operation in Indore and Kech areas of Balochistan. During the search, terrorists opened fire at paramilitary personnel, which the FC troops effectively responded.
One terrorist was killed in the exchange of fire, while an FC man was wounded. Officials also recovered arms and explosives in search of the vicinity.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Rangers Punjab conducted searches in various cities and apprehended 10 suspects.
The searches were conducted in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Attock. Rangers also seized a cache of explosives during the searches.
Thursday’s raids and searches came as part of an ongoing military campaign with the name of Radd-ul-Fasaad aimed at wiping out terrorists and their facilitators from the country.
Pakistan on February 22 launched a nationwide military operation ‘Radd-ul-Fasaad’, which includes broad-spectrum security and counter-terrorism operations in Punjab, and continuation of ongoing operations across the country.
The crackdown came in reaction to the wave of terror attacks which hit the country last month prompting the civil-military leadership to order an all-out campaign against terrorists and their facilitators.
