KABUL: Afghan Taliban militants said they attacked police, military and intelligence targets in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Wednesday and security officials confirmed ongoing attacks in at least two areas of the city.

One attack appeared to have targeted an office of Afghanistan’s intelligence agency on the outskirts of Kabul, they said.

A gunbattle broke out between security forces and an unknown number of gunmen immediately after a resounding explosion in the western part of Kabul, a police official said.

Fighting was concentrated near a district police headquarters located not far from a military training school, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to talk to the media.

There was no immediate official comment from police and no word on casualties.

The explosion was large enough to be heard on the other side of the city. Last month, a suicide bomber killed at least 20 people outside the Supreme Court in Kabul. Militant group Islamic State claimed responsibility for that attack.

  1. We the Afghan people were anticipating that after multiple explosions in Lahore Pakistan, once again deadly attacks will definitely take place in Kabul by the hirelings of ISI through deviated and superficial people who really do not aware of Islam. Today they did dreadful and tyrannical attacks on pure Muslims those who defeated Soviet invaders who have had plans to occupy Pakistan as well. On that time we were the defenders of Pakistan borders. We remind those who are behind these attacks will one day knelt front of us and advise them to take heed from the fate of the Soviets. You are killing innocent people and then claiming that you will get the government power in the country. Never Never…..

  2. This is what happens when there is a corrupt Afghan government who only cares for the interest of India and NATO and not of the Afghan people. When the Afghanistan government is more interested in bombing Pakistan with the help of Indian RAW. I wish the afghani people who have always been brothers and whom we took as refugees rather full access to Pakistan in the 1980s will reject this new brainwashing by Indians.
