Sri Lanka beat Pakistan to lift West Asian Baseball Cup

Sri Lanka thrashed defending champions Pakistan 4-2 in a thrilling final showdown to lift the West Asia Baseball Cup 2017 here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Hosts Pakistan, who had remained unbeaten in the group matches tried their best to lift the title for the sixth consecutive time but they couldn’t dominate Sri Lankan batters and pitchers.

Captain Sumair Zawar and Wasim Ali scored one run apiece for Pakistan. For Sri Lanka, Iresh, Sandun, Sameera and Asanka chipped in with one run each.

Earlier; in the third position fixture, Iran defeated Nepal 10-6. Iran’s Nima, Iman and Davood scored two runs each, while one run each was made by Ali Godorgi, Majid, Mojtuba and Yasin.

Nepal’s Achit Karki, Sukhrim Thampa, Dinesh Singh, Milan Thapa, Man Kumar and Binod Koirala scored one run apiece.
