Pashtuns stereotyped by Punjab Police

In the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Punjab government issued a notice implicating people with Pashtun descent as potential terrorists. It directs the people to inform over suspicion of any Pashtun working as tea vendors, dry-fruits vendors and salesman of households and children’s toys. Since this notice was issued, many cases of racial profiling by Punjab Police has been observed over social media. It is highly appalling to see Punjab Police stereotyping an ethnicity that has been equally victimised in terrorist attacks. The concerned authorities should take everyone on board to curb the ongoing terrorism across Pakistan rather than monitoring a single ethnicity.  Therefore, the government should address the issue as soon as possible.
