KARACHI: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has accorded approval for a reduction in power tariff by Rs 3.23 per unit for the consumers of K-Electric.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee (CCPA) had requested the NEPRA for approving a reduction in power tariff by Rs 1.62 per unit under the head of Fuel Adjustment Surcharge (FAS).

The petition was heard in a meeting held under NEPRA Chairman Tariq Saddozai.

During the meeting, the NEPRA gave the approval to scale down power tariff by Rs 3.23 per unit under the FAS.

A day before, NEPRA had approved the decrease in power tariff by Rs 3.23 per unit for the consumers all over the country and this way the consumers were allowed a benefit of over Rs 2 billion. But this reduction in tariff was not applied to the K-Electric consumers.
