KARACHI: Sindh Young Doctors Association, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) Chapter on Monday called off its strike for next 10 days after being assured by Sindh Health Secretary Fazalullah Peechuho that their stipends and relevant allowances would be brought at par with their colleagues serving at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre and Karachi National Institute of Child Health.

The doctors to register their protest against the alleged discrimination had not been attending their duties at the out patients departments and emergency section at the CHK for past week.

They have decided to resume their work from Tuesday upon the assurance extended by the authorities.

Meanwhile, a rally planned to be taken out from the CHK Trauma Centre to Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on Monday was also called off due to a split between the two groups of Young Doctors Association – CHK over the modalities of the protest.
