Turkish experts to revamp Punjab’s health sector

A 15-member delegation of the Turkish Ministry of Health called on Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Khawaja Salman Rafiq on Monday.

While talking to the delegation, the provincial minister said that the provincial government greatly valued the cooperation of the Turkish experts for developing Punjab’s health sector. He said that their expertise would go a long way for improving health infrastructure in the province.

The Turkish delegation was headed by Dr Hasan Cogal and consisted of public health experts, doctors, and architects.

The Turkish architects are expected to help revamp of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, while the health experts are expected to help with infection control and assist with the use of modern technology for hospital waste management in Punjab.

It was decided that the delegation would visit and review the facilities at Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Lahore General Hospital to make their recommendations.

The delegation appreciated the hospitality of Punjab government and gave reassurances that they would to the best they could to improve the Punjab’s healthcare system.

SH&ME Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah, SH&ME Special Secretary Dr Sajid Mehmood Chohan, Mayo Hospital Chief Executive Prof Asad Aslam Khan, Addl Secretary (Tech) Dr Salman Shahid, Health Deputy Secretary Dr Yadullah and other officers were also present on the occasion.
