Afghanistan made a mockery of the series decider against Zimbabwe by thrashing the hosts by 106 runs (D/L method).

With the win, they also pocketed the five-match ODI series 3-2. It was a clinical performance by the same bunch of men who were precarious in the previous two encounters and managed to keep the series alive despite leading 2-0 after the first two games. With another series win, Afghanistan maintained their dominant record against the low-lying hosts as they have never conceded a series against the African nation.

Rahmat Shah was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 50, while Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib scored 48 and 46 respectively.

The second innings kicked off after a long break due to rain. There was some heavy rain witnessed at Harare Sports Club and it looked like there was not going to be any further action.

Nonetheless, the sun came out after a long time after which groundsmen had lots to do to dry the outfields. After much delay, the game was reduced to 22 overs a side with the total being 161 for the hosts.

There was no planning whatsoever in the Zimbabwean chase as they folded for 54—which is their lowest total in ODIs.

Rahmat Shah was declared man of the match and Chris Mpofu was declared man of the series.
