AD Khawaja directs foolproof security arrangements throughout province

Inspector General of Sindh Police AD Khawaja has called for beefing up security in the province in the wake of recent wave of terrorist incidents in different cities.

A police spokesman said on Sunday that the police chief has sought the details of security plan for 2017 and also directed that foolproof security arrangements be made in coordination with other law enforcement agencies (LEAs). AD Khawaja has also called for preparing standard operating procedures (SOPs) in this regard and has also ordered deployment of police officers at all important places.

He has also instructed that a separate SOP should be prepared for curbing dacoities, street crimes and serious crimes. In every district, an officer of SP rank should be posted as the focal person and a weekly flag march of the police commandos should be part of the procedures, the police chief said.

Terrorists arrested: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced the arrest of three suspected terrorists belonging to a certain political party. In a press conference in Garden headquarters, SSP Umer Shahid said that the three suspects were apprehended in Malir’s Ghazi Town graveyard while smuggling weapons.

The accused were also in the possession of a number of weapons including six klashinokovs, LMG, six repeaters, 5 TT pistols and two 7mm rifles which have been taken away by the police. The suspects confessed to their crimes and also gave the police the names of their leaders. “I committed the murders on the orders of a political worker who was our unit incharge,” said one of the arrested terrorists.
