Former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) will participate in the All Parties Conference (APC) convened by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) over military courts extension issue in Pakistan’s interest.

Expressing gratitude for accepting the invitation, former Senate chairman Senator Nayyer Bokhari and Senator Abdul Qayyum Soomro said that the PPP was holding this APC owning to worst circumstances and the attitude of the ruling party.

During the meeting held at the residence of PML-Q leaders, Punjab’s former chief minister Parvez Elahi, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Moonis Elahi and PPP leaders Sameena Khalid Ghurki and Sardar Ali Khan were also present.

Shujaat, being thankful for the PPP delegation, said that whenever [we were] invited over any matter concerning country we did not remain behind and fully participated.

“We will also attend this meeting for reaching a consensus on this particular issue; Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) has made the military courts bill controversial by amending it on its own,” he said.

He said that he had raised the objection in the APC regarding National Action Plan (NAP) that in the bill for setting up of military courts, word ‘educational institutions’ must be used instead of seminaries, but his suggestion was not entertained and afterwards a heavy price was paid.

He said that nobody’s interest should be prior to the national interest.
