Forensic report says Lahore blast was an accident

Punjab police on Saturday received the final forensic report for Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Z-Block blast that took place in Lahore on Thursday.

According to the report, the incident that claimed eight lives and left 30 people injured was an accident and not an act of terrorism.

The FIR for the incident was registered at the DHA police station.

A committee led by DIG Investigation has been tasked to investigate all aspects of the incident.

“The individuals found guilty of negligence for the DHA accident will be held accountable,” said a police representative.

Earlier on Friday, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah cited the initial forensic report to confirm that no traces of explosives were found from the site of the explosion, adding that the blast was an accident and not an act of terrorism.
