CM discusses extension of cooperation with German power-generation company

Lahmeyer International Executive Director Bernd Metzger called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Saturday.

During the meeting, various matters of mutual interest including extending cooperation in the energy sector came under discussion. Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that energy projects in Pakistan were being completed and observed that many of them were near completion. He said that the government was also working to generate energy through alternate means along with the traditional.

The energy projects are being speedily completed in a very transparent manner, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that load-shedding would be over by the end of the current year after completion of various electricity generation projects. He said that work on 3600 megawatt gas power projects in Punjab was being carried out around the clock, adding that 17,000 schools would be converted to solar power under a phased programme.

Members of the delegation said that they would be happy to extend their cooperation in energy projects to the Punjab government. Lahmeyer International Hydro Power and Water Resources Division Executive Director Bernhard Stabel, the energy secretary and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
