LAHORE: Fourteen suspects were rounded up in a search operation in different localities of Lahore a day after a mysterious explosion rocked a posh market in Defence area killing at least eight people.
According to police officials, the search operation was jointly conducted by the paramilitary Rangers and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Nishtar Colony.
This was the first search operation by the Rangers after the paramilitary force was granted special policing powers for raids and operations across Punjab.
During the house-to-house search, bio-data of the area residents was also checked.
Meanwhile, stringent security checks had been made for mosques, imambargahs and other sensitive places ahead of Jumma prayers.
A powerful explosion in the upscale DHA area killed eight people and injured 35 others, only 10 days after a suicide bomb attack right in front of the Punjab Assembly had claimed 15 lives.
