The Punjab government decided on Friday to cancel the licenses issued to drug dispensers across the province.
The government has also made it compulsory for medical stores, B-category pharmacies to keep pharmacists who hold a medical degree.
According to sources, the district government was also notified regarding the new orders, while initiatives are being taken to cancel the already given permission letter till July 2017.
After the cancellation of the licenses, only dispensers with degrees will be authorised to run their medical stores and dispensaries.
Pakistan Chemist Retailers Association Central Chairman Ishaq Memo said that the matter would be challenged in the high court as the issuance of licenses was supposed to be dependent on the Pakistan Drug Rules 1958 section 55.
