In its second board meeting, CDA on Friday approved unanimously allotment of precious plot of around 10 Kanals (4744 square yards) in Sector F-5/2, Ministers Enclave in Red Zone worth billions of rupees, for the residence of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser. The board on the other hand, however deferred the summary of allotment of plot for the offices of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

“Mayor gets plot for residence is this more important than giving plot for MCI offices?, Mayor has his own residence but MCI elected representatives still waiting for powers, offices, salaries, funds and staff,” said member of authority while answering a query, who wished not to be named.

“This plot is not allotted to anyone else, not even Mayor Sheikh Anser. This plot is marked for the residence of every mayor of Islamabad in fact. The board only approved the plot in Ministers’ Enclave and summary in this regard has been forwarded for final approval from Prime Minister (PM) through Ministry of Interior,” said another member of authority, who too requested anonymity.

In a board meeting held at CDA Headquarters, eight point agenda was discussed in which 5 were approved. The board also decided to allot plot to Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) and All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) through Ministry of Information.

The plot for CPNE and APNS is actually allotted to Minister of Information after two years. CDA board approves the allotment of 1122 square yard plot in street 28 in G-7/1 for Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.

Board decided amendments in appointment procedure in employee’s service regulations. Previously, CDA had decided to appoint doctors, staff employees for CDA hospital through Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), but later on, FPSC told CDA to appoint staff through their own process.

Payment of outstanding dues by United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) for plot in Diplomatic Enclave was also approved. Three agendas pertaining land issues were not discussed due to shortage of time.

It was also decided unanimously to rename 9th Avenue of Islamabad in the name of renowned Urdu poet, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi. Renaming 9th Avenue as Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi Road is a tribute to his literary contributions.
