NHA collected Rs 4586 million as toll revenue in three years

National Highway Authority (NHA) has collected Rs 4586 million as toll revenue in the last three fiscal years from national highways and motorways.

From the National Highways, the NHA had collected Rs 10,199 million in 2013-14, Rs 12,813 million in 2014-15 and Rs 13,559 million in 2015-16, an NHA official told APP on Wednesday.

He said from the motorways, the NHA had collected Rs 3,791 million in 2013-14, Rs 3,458 million in 2014-15 and Rs 2,065 in 2015-16.

Over all, the NHA had collected Rs 13,990 million in 2013-14, Rs 16,271 million in 2014-15 and Rs 15,625 million in 2015-16 as the toll from both national highways and motorways, he added.

Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) toll collection amount was for 6 months from July to December 2014 as it was further handed over to M/s MORE on Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis in December 2014.

To a question, he said the revenue collected through toll was being utilised for the maintenance of 12,000-kilometre NHA network on need basis through annual maintenance plan.

He said audit of the accounts of the NHA was under taken by DG (Audit Works) as well as by commercial auditors i.e private Chartered Accountant firms.

The NHA official said heads for utilisation of toll receipts included rehabilitation of Highways, periodic maintenance, routine maintenance, highway safety, emergency maintenance and geometric improvement.
