Make serving humanity your aim, KP governor urges medical graduates

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that the persons associated with medical sciences should make serving humanity their aim and contribute towards development of the nation.

The institutions of higher learning, he added, are the centres of excellence in carrying out research and there is a special need to put to promote better research activities in the area.

He was addressing the 3rd Convocation of Khyber Medical University, as a chief guest on Wednesday. Provincial Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakzai, Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Hafizullah, physicians, faculty members and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

The convocation ceremony, he remarked, is an important event in the lives of graduates wherein their hard work to seeking knowledge are acknowledged.

While congratulating graduates, he expressed the confidence that the graduating doctors would make it their habit to working hard and promoting research-based knowledge in future as well.

Earlier, the vice-chancellor while presenting the annual report said that the university has emerged as a towering institution over the past ten years. Today, he said, forty different institutions are affiliated with the university which not only reflects the level of their confidence, but also the prospects for ensuring equal opportunities for their further development and progress.

Meanwhile, US Consul General for Peshawar Raymond McGrath also called on Iqbal Zafar Jhagra at Governor House.

He discussed matters of mutual interest with the governor including peace initiatives, developmental projects, especially relating to health and education sectors.
