LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday held a high-level security meeting in Lahore, according to the military’s media wing.
Important decisions were made during the security session which would be shared soon, the ISPR said.
The session was attended by all Corps Commanders in Punjab, DG Rangers Punjab and intelligence officials.
Earlier in the day, the federal government granted the paramilitary Rangers special powers for a period of 60 days.
The request for deployment of Rangers in Punjab was made after a series of back-to-back explosions across the country including one in Lahore on February 13, in which 14 people including policemen were killed.
