Charsadda blast: Two arrested; lawyers protested

 

Amid funeral of Tangi blast victims and protest of lawyer community, the law enforcing agencies’ hunt for alleged facilitators of militants resulted in the abduction of two people by Charsada Police.

Charsada District Police Officer Sohail Khalid told media on Wednesday that two more alleged facilitators of Tangi suicide attack had been arrested. He, however, didn’t disclose the identity of arrested persons and said they were shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.

On the incident day, Charsada police arrested one suspect from the site. Later, the DPO said that the arrested suspect proved to be a facilitator, on his tip off, police arrested these two from Charsada District.

On the call of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and Peshawar High Court Bar association, lawyer community observed black day on Wednesday where lawyers boycotted the proceeding of the courts.

Lawyers made it clear that lawyer community will continue its struggle for the supremacy of rule of law in the country. They urged the government to take stern action for the safety of judges and lawyers in particular.

Chief Justice Justice Yahya Afridi also visited the judicial complex, Tangi. In his brief remarks on the occasion, Afridi paid glowing tributes to the victims and prayed for early recovery of injured person.

Joint security forces also carried out targeted operations in Peshawar, Mardan, Charsada and several other parts of Peshawar. In this connection, main GT Road remained closed for traffic. Police officials said that it was an operation to arrest alleged facilitators of terrorism in the country, especially the attack in Charsadda.
