Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) Punjab spokesman Dr Zain Ali while talking to the media at the Muslim League House here on Tuesday said that the party condemned the Charsadah attack and was thankful to the security institutions who had averted a major tragedy through their timely action.

Talking about the provincial healthcare system, he said: “Punjab lacks even basic healthcare facilities and Shehbaz Sharif has no care for the life or property of the people. Children’s Hospital Multan and the Cardiology Hospital extension were started during Ch Parvez Elahi’s tenure and have still not been completed.”

He claimed that 115 women had died due to a lack of facilities at the Children’s Hospital. “11 to 15 thousand children between the ages of 4 and 6 years are registered as heart patients but they are not being given time for surgery.  Presently, there are 34 lakh tuberculosis patients and 7 million hepatitis patients, and their numbers are increasing by five lakh every year,” the spokesman said.

“50% of the 2450 healthcare centres have no ventilators or an adequate number of doctors. CT scan and MRI machines are almost non-existent and the chief minister claims that all is well in the health sector,” he added.

“The people need good quality medicines and healthcare facilities, but Shehbaz Sharif is busy running his metro train. All seems well if all one looks at are newspapers or TV advertisements, but practically the performance of the current Punjab government nonexistent,” Dr Zain Ali maintained.
