Security forces detain 250 suspects as countrywide crackdown continues

Security forces continued a countrywide crackdown against terrorists, following a wave of terrorism last week which claimed over 100 lives.

At least 250 suspects have been arrested.

Rangers foiled a terror plot in Karachi, killing seven people from a banned outfit, during a search operation at Shah Latif Colony.

In another incident in Karachi’s New Karachi area, security forces arrested three people including a policeman, during a raid at a house where a large cache of weapons were recovered.

Police arrested 35 Afghan Nationals in Quetta and registered cases against them in various police stations of the city. The Afghan Nationals were arrested in accordance with the Foreign Act.

In Hafizabad, police and intelligence agencies conducted a combing operation arresting 16 suspects. Weapons and drugs were recovered from them.

In Mandi Bahauddin and Dera Ghazi Khan, security forces arrested 146 Afghan nationals and recovered weapons and drugs from them. Raids in Mandi Bahaudin were conducted jointly by Counter-Terrorism Department and police in Afghan neighbourhoods.

In Rawalpindi, during raids in hotels and guesthouses security forces arrested 87 people for having incomplete documents. Additional police contingents have been posted at all entrance and exit points of the city.

In similar raids in the country on Sunday at least 200 people were arrested.

In a week of violence in Karachi, at least 115 people lost their lives. A deadly suicide attack in Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine at Sehwan killed over 80 people and injured hundreds.
