AUSTRALIA – The unique pink-coloured lake in Australia has left the people in awe and admiration.
Usually, lakes are transparent, blue or green in colour but Lake Hillier in Western Australia has a striking pink colour.
The lake spans only about 600 meters wide but its rose pink colour is unmistakable.
The colour is due to the presence of algae that produces carotenoids, such as Dunaliella Salina, a type of halophile green micro-algae especially found in sea salt fields.
The lake annually draws a large number of visitors from around the world.
