Brothers of Lahore bombing facilitator nabbed in Bajaur

BAJAUR AGENCY: Security forces on Saturday took into custody two brothers of Anwaarul Haq, the alleged facilitator of the Feb 13 suicide bombing in Lahore, from their residence in Bajaur Agency of FATA.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced Haq’s arrest in a press conference on Friday evening. The suspect’s confessional statement was also aired during the briefing.

“Acting on information provided by intelligence agencies, security personnel on Saturday raided Haq’s house in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur Agency,” security officials said.

Haq’s two brothers Khalilullah and Hameedullah were taken into custody during the raid.

In his press conference, the Punjab CM claimed to have eliminated the terrorist network involved in Monday’s suicide attack in Lahore in which 15 people were killed.

CM Shahbaz said the facilitator, Anwaarul Haq, had divulged that their network was operating from within Afghanistan.

Earlier, a sketch of the suicide bomber who blew himself at Charing Cross of Mall Road claiming lives of 14 people was prepared taking help from CCTV footage, eye witnesses and statements by those injured.

According to intelligence officials, the suicide bomber belonged to Jamat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

On the other hand, the government of Punjab has ordered a Joint Investigation Committee (JIT) for the horrific Lahore blast. SSP Muhammad Iqbal Khan will lead the JIT.
