‘Ahle Qalam Ka Geet’ team meets president

President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said that Pakistani writers and scholars could play an important role in eliminating the scourge of terrorism and in national progress.

He said this during a meeting with artists, poets and composers of the song “Ahle Qalam Ka Geet” who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr headed by Adviser to the Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, a press release issued by the President’s media wing said.

The president said that poetry like ‘Ahle Qalam Ka Geet’ would be beneficial in addressing the country’s issues of religious fundamentalism, linguistic biases, and terrorism.

He noted that the ‘Ahle Qalam Ka Geet’ was jointly composed by PAL and Pakistan Television, representing all fields of arts. The promotion of art and literature was a priority of the present government, he added. The president invited the artists for a cup of tea and presented cash prizes to the artists, poets, and composers of the song in a show of appreciation.
