Speaking to reporters at the Pakistan Cricket Board, the chairman of its executive committee, Najam Sethi, said that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going to be a soccer league from now on because of the game changing nature of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC.)

“As per government policy, we are not supposed to ask about CPEC, but only marvel at it,” he said. “We don’t really know how, exactly, this project is going to have this effect on the game, but we have to only respond to it.”

He was flanked by chairman of the Pakistan Football Federation Faisal Saleh Hayat, who is going to be running the PSL from now on.

“I know many powers in the region do not like this development,” said Hayat. “I also know that many of the people within this country do not like this development because they love cricket. But look at these things in context. It could have been much worse. What if it had been baseball or even Pitthu Garam?”

“What about Ludo or one of those four games on the back of the Ludo game, not Snakes and Ladders or checkers, but those other two weird ones?”

“It is a brave new world out here in the aftermath of CPEC. No one will know which way is up or whom to ask. We are only to take everything in our stride.”
