ANF foils bid to smuggle heroin from Lahore airport to Saudi Arabia

LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Saturday foiled an attempt to smuggle at least 2 kgs of heroin, worth millions of rupees to Saudia Arabia from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.

ANF stopped a Sargodha native, Naeem Masih, from boarding a flight. After a thorough inspection, heroin capsules were found hidden under orange peels. He was immediately taken into custody by the personnel. For further investigation, the suspect will be handed over to ANF Punjab.

Meanwhile, Airport Security Force (ASF) in Rawalpindi confiscated at least one kg heroin hidden in a wheelchair by a passenger travelling to Uganda from PK-615. For further investigation, the suspect has been shifted to ASF headquarters.

Earlier, ASF foiled a plan to smuggle heroin from Islamabad to Saudi Arabia.

The ANF, meanwhile, is adding 173 beds in total in its Karachi, Sukkur, and Peshawar Model Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres (MATRCs).
