Ten-year-old tribal dispute resolved after 32 murders in Shikarpur

 

 

An old tribal dispute between Sabzoi and Sawand tribesmen belonging to Kashmore-Kandhkot District for the last 10 years over the ownership of agricultural land situated in forest area was ended at Jatoi House here on late Friday.

A jirga was held under the supervision of Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar and former MNA Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi while Azhar Ali Khan Kamario, Dr Ali Nawaz Sawand, Mir Sikandar Khan Kakepoto, Mir Allah Bux Khan Kakepoto, Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, Mir Chakar Khan Domki, Mir Abdul Nabi Teghani, Amanullah Khan Teghani, Zulfikar Khan Domki, and Karim Dino Jatoi were nominated as Musheers by the both rival parties in the jirga.

The 32 murders and 20 injured in total of both the Sabzoi and Sawand groups were proved during the jirga proceedings. As per verdict of the jirga, Rs 34.60 million fine was imposed on both the parties against the compensation of 32 murders and 20 injured persons of both the parties in total.

According to the decision in the jirga, the Sabzoi group will have to pay Rs 16.90 million to Sawand group against the compensation of 16 murders and 8 injured persons, while Sawand group will have to pay Rs 17.70 to Sabzoi group against the compensation of 16 murders and 12 injured.

Besides, five-member committee comprising Haji Karim Dino Badani Jatoi, Mir Sikandar Ali Kakepoto, Sardar Allah Bux Khan Kakepoto, Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, and Dr Ali Nawaz Sawand was formed during the jirga to settle the dispute of agricultural land till February 25, 2017.

While, the parties will have to return to each other the weapons and other valuables snatched by them during the clashes on oath. The jirga also decided to impose the fine of Rs 2.5 million on the party which will be found involved in violating the jirga decision. Thus, the old tribal dispute was brought to an end after holding jirga and the compromise was made between the rival parties under the efforts of the area notables.
