LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chairman Najam Sethi has said that there is no place for bookies in PSL, after Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were ruled out of PSL 2017 on Friday over corruption charges.
Sethi claimed that it is the first time when Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken action in time.
“It seems as if both players were involved in misconduct or were planning to violate the anti-corruption code”, he told the media.
PSL chief assured that they took action according to law and suspended players over certain circumstances, however, they will be allowed to present their point of view in the development. “PSL is a national asset and no one is allowed to corrupt it”, he added.
He said, “We are hopeful that the nation will support us in action against corruption. The players are being given good payments but greed can trap anyone”.
He went on to say that following the success of PSL first edition, bookies have taken a keen interest in PSL 2 while we have made a transparent conduct to stop any discrepancies.
