The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday (Today) ordered the release of Gullu Butt, the notorious character of Model Town incident.
Butt’s counsel maintained before the court that the police registered a case under terrorism laws against his client under political pressure. The trial court sentenced his client without proper evidence and solid proof, he added.
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had sentenced Gullu Butt to 11 years and three months of imprisonment for vandalising cars during the Model Town Incident on June 17, a private news channel reported.
He was arrested at the court hearing.
Butt was caught on camera vandalising cars in the presence of policemen during clashes between supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahir-ul-Qardi and the police.
