Abdul Majeed says CDA non-serious in resolving land compensation issue

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Estate Kushal Khan on Wednesday denied the announcement of a new award over the previous one for the affectees of E-12, terming it illegal, in a meeting of sub-committee of the National Assembly Committee on Government Assurance. The committee urged the CDA to announce a new award in order to accommodate the affectees of E-12.

In the committee meeting headed by convener Abdul Majeed, CDA Chairman and Mayor Anser Aziz said that the CDA was going to evolve a standard policy to compensate all the affectees with the one-time approval from the Cabinet Division as no one was exception.

Khushal Khan briefed the committee that there was no way to compensate the affectees other than drafting a piece of legislation. He said that the CDA will verify the family trees from National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) as the family member who was not compensated with built up property and land compensation, has now his own family of 8 persons, and it is not possible or legitimate to accommodate them all.

Khushal said that it was difficult to compensate all family members without the shelter of the committee and legislation, otherwise, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) could book them in future over this irregularity,” he said.

“The CDA seems non-serious to resolve this decade-old land compensation issues; there is still no progress either,” the convener said.

MNA Malik Abrar urged the CDA to find a way out or compensate all family members in any way.

Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi said that four meetings in this regard were already held and five committees were formed in which one person of every affected family was included.

It was said that the sector D-12 was available and if the authority really wanted to compensate the affectees then they could announce a sub-sector in which all remaining affectees would be compensated.

The committee asked for a report on policy through which the affectees would be compensated within two weeks.

Capital Administration and Development Division Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary was also supposed to attend the meeting, but he remained absent.

It is pertinent to mention here that 700 families, which were not accommodated for their built up properties, are now claiming that they have grown up into 1700 and they want to be accommodated.

The 25-year-old E-12 sector has 5671 kanal of land. He said that E-11 comprised of 4 mozas, Dhareek Mohal of 1977 kanal, Bhekar Fateh Baksh of 2426 kanal, Sari Saral of 800 kanal, and Bara Dari of 100 kanal.

The CDA has compensated approximately 1200 out of 1900 affectees against build up area.

The meeting was attended by convener Abdul Majeed, Member Malik Abrar, Member Sardar Dogar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab, Member Sheikh Akbar Khan, Mayor Sheikh Anser and Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi.
