NEW DELHI: Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi ‘s house in New Delhi was burgled in the early hours of Tuesday, police have said.
Satyarthi is in the US at present. The replica of his Nobel prize has been stolen too among other valuables. The original has been kept at Rashtrapati Bhawan as per protocol.
Cops suspect that the burgled were aware if the Nobel and mistook it for the original. However, it is yet to be ascertained if the thieves wanted just that.
An FIR under section 380 (house theft) of the IPC has been registered and the cops are probing the case on priority.
A manhunt has been launched fir the suspects. All scrap dealers and local criminals from the area have been detained. Crime and forensic teams have lifted fingerprints and other evidences from the spot, cops said.
